Floating in the Dead Sea could not have been any easier. It was much harder to sink than it was to float. The biggest problem was that the water is so salty it would make any nick, scratch or cut burn like crazy. Even if the water got near your eyes, it would sting.
Wadi Rum was stunning. It is a massive park with amazing rock formations everywhere and was 'home' to Lawrence of Arabia at some point. We spent the night in a Bedouin camp and explored the park all the next day.
To cap the trip off the 6 of us spent 2 days in Petra. If you've seen Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, then you've at least seen the Treasury in Petra. Ever since watching that movie I've had a fascination with the site. 2 days wasn't even enough to see everything in Petra. The Treasury itself is about a 20-30 minute walk from the entrance through a canyon. To get to the Monastery on the far side of the park, it took about 80-90 minutes and was well worth it. Everywhere we looked things were carved out of the rose-colored rock. Tombs and governmental buildings, religious structures and other buildings were just hewn from the rock with rudimentary tools. Petra is definitely a must-see.
